休總丟了冠軍 贏得球員的心

〔自由時報記者郭羿婕／綜合報導〕首度帶兵打聯盟冠軍賽，58歲金鶯教頭休瓦特輸掉初體驗，仍以子弟兵為榮，相信他們未來會是季後賽常客，他也贏得球員愛戴。

「以驕傲姿態離開考夫曼球場（皇家主場）」是金鶯官網對休瓦特的描述，雖球隊遭清盤留憾，但他看來充滿信心，因金鶯邁入茁壯期，未來仍有機會叩關世界大賽。

休瓦特說，這批年輕球員已證明同心齊力發揮實力，「但我對他們的愛與支持是無條件的，不因贏得世界大賽與否而改變。」

2010年接掌兵符後，休總率金鶯復甦，今年最有機會挺進世界大賽卻輸得難看，投打守都失衡，他不談球員表現有何疏失，只為他們不捨，想著如何協助他們做得更好。

休總「挺台」言行收服台灣球迷的心，他也很會做面子給球員，帶兵風格贏得選手愛戴，一壘手皮爾斯說，「他會讓你盡全力在場上奮戰，很棒的總教練，為他效力很有趣。」金鶯球季遺憾作收，休總才要開始與球團商討新球季的準備，明年再來。
