金鶯昨以2年450萬元(約1.33億元)簽下前馬林魚中繼投手韋伯補強牛棚，這也是季後金鶯首次補強；同時，外傳金鶯已對運動家終結者巴爾佛(Grant Balfour )開價，但遭總經理杜奎特(Dan Duquette)否認。
前金鶯終結者強森(Jim Johnson)日前才被交易到運動家，換來內野潛力新秀威克斯(Rickie Weeks)，就傳出對巴爾佛有興趣，杜奎特說：「我們現在會先把目光放在自由球員市場，很多傳聞已經炒作過頭了。」
