過去4季有3季百敗以上的太空人隊，昨日仰賴左投庫凱爾7局0責失、強打蓋提斯關鍵2分全壘打，6比1勝運動家，累積27勝14敗暫居美聯第1，還締造隊史53年來開季前41場的最佳戰績。　庫凱爾與紅雀隊華卡是本季大聯盟唯二6勝0敗的投手，他也成為2004年克萊門斯（開季9勝0敗）後，開季最多連勝的太空人投手，且跨季8連勝。
