風度翩翩的吉特，場內是洋基隊長，贏得5座世界大賽冠軍；場外是紐約最有人氣黃金單身漢，情史豐富，對象盡是藝人、超模等名女人，場內場外一樣精彩。
吉特形象好，2號球衣更是大聯盟20年來賣得最夯的商品，他也成立基金會做公益，幫助青少年遠離毒品和酒癮，獲頒名譽博士學位。
但他最精彩的還是戀愛史。首任女友是流行樂天后瑪莉亞凱莉(Mariah Carey)，之後陸續和拉丁歌手喬伊(Joy Enriquez）、環球小姐杜塔(Lara Dutta)、性感女星潔西卡艾芭(Jessica Alba)拍拖，還一度傳出潔西卡艾芭會染上性病，就是吉特搞的。
