洋基就是洋基，季後的補強依然不會手軟，雖然放走了坎農(Robinson Cano)，但在先發投手部分，則是積極補強，除了要搶田中將大外，也把目標瞄準身為自由球員的希曼尼茲(Ubaldo Jimenez)。

29歲的希曼尼茲，2013球季在印地安人拿下13勝9敗3.30防禦率，表現相當不錯，而以往為人詬病的保送數，也有獲得改善，對於今年沒打進季後賽的洋基而言，是相當不錯的先發戰力。

洋基目前的計劃希望先留下黑田博樹，接著進一步搶田中將大，同時也希望能延攬希曼尼茲入隊，再度打造堅強的先發投手陣容。

如果計劃都能讓洋基如願，2014先發陣容一字排開，沙巴西亞(C.C. Sabathia)、黑田博樹、田中將大、希曼尼茲、諾瓦(Ivan Nova)，是相當華麗的先發陣容，也是洋基重返世界大賽的重要補強。

希曼尼茲如果加盟洋基，因為印地安人先前提供合理的報價，洋基將損失一個選秀權給印地安人。
