大都會王牌Matt Harvey進行右手肘重建手術，2014年球季確定報銷。

醫學專家James Andrews為Harvey進行Tommy John韌帶重建手術，修復斷裂的右手肘韌帶，從Tommy John手術復原，至少需要一年左右的時間，因此下個球季將見不到Harvey在場上投球。

24歲的Harvey在8月底因右手肘韌帶斷裂，提早報銷球季，原本打算以復健治療，但效果不佳，在大都會隊醫David Altchek以及醫學專家Andrews的建議下，決定在10月下旬動刀。

Harvey本季表現優異，在受傷前投178.1局，送出191次三振，戰績為9勝5敗、防禦率2.27，並獲選為明星賽國聯先發投手。

少了Harvey這張王牌，大都會計畫找來兩名先發投手，加強現有的先發輪值，預計有左投Jonathon Niese、右投Zack Wheeler以及Dillon Gee。
