總統夫人周美青於本周日在天母棒球場觀看中信兄弟隊挑戰封王的新聞，上了國際棒總的官網。

這篇稿子寫著2014中華職棒總冠軍賽對戰組合，前天終於在天母球場超過一萬名爆滿觀眾前出爐。中信兄弟擊敗去年總冠軍統一獅，奪得今年度下半季冠軍，接下來將與Lamigo桃猿爭奪總冠軍。

第一夫人周美青當時也在現場，全程目睹中信兄弟贏球過程，這是周美青本季第3度進場看球。周美青自2009年起，已親臨球場觀看超過60場的中職賽事，兄弟在2010年奪得冠軍時，第一夫人也在現場親眼見證。

中信兄弟下半季與義大犀牛打得難分難解，以致於總冠軍對戰組合一直到最後一刻才出爐。桃猿隊以39勝19負2和奪得上半季冠軍，兄弟則以31勝26負3和戰績贏得下半季冠軍，今年總冠軍系列賽將自10月18日起開打，採7戰4勝制。

中華職棒在去年4月成為國際棒球總會(IBAF，International Baseball Federation)會員，今年5月也成為國際棒壘球總會(WBSC，World Baseball Softball Confederation)的準會員。
