紅襪左投雷斯特(Jon Leaster，見圖)投7.2局僅被敲5安，為紅襪搶下今年世界大賽首勝，成為史上第4位在世界大賽首戰投滿7局無失分、飆8K投手。也是史上第3位前2次在世界大賽先發都未失分投手，目前已連13.1局無失分。2007年紅襪直落4勝落磯，雷斯特是封王戰勝投，也是史上首位生涯首度在世界大賽先發就投封王戰且拿勝投。他說：「一開始就想盡量讓紅雀打者揮空。這是非常重要的勝利，尤其是在主場。」(記者鍾裕能)
