世界大賽首戰 溫萊特生涯首度對紅襪

紅襪與紅雀兩支今年戰績最好的球隊，將在第109届世界大賽相遇，雙方也公佈首站的先發投手，紅雀派出溫萊特(Adam Wainwright)掛帥主投，紅襪目前先發投手未定。

溫萊特今年戰績19勝9敗2.94防禦率，整體表現相當不錯，而在季後賽中首戰面對海盜拿下2勝成為勝負關鍵，國聯冠軍戰面對道奇吞下敗仗，但球隊依然挺進世界大賽。

紅雀總教練麥錫尼(Mike Matheny)表示：「我們喜歡溫萊特在投手丘上，有他在投手丘上就是會比較安心。」

溫萊特今年球季沒有對決紅襪的紀錄，生涯也從來沒有遭遇過紅襪，世界大賽是紅襪與溫萊特的首次對決。

紅襪首戰先發人選仍未定，但以休息天數夠的情況下，一般預料紅襪將推出左投雷斯特(Jon Lester)先發。
