Jake Peavy投5又2/3局失1分，配合打線得點圈16支6的高效率，巨人隊以6比2擊敗響尾蛇。巨人隊拿下主場9連勝，國聯外卡第一，西區第二，跟第一名之間的差距剩下2場。

「隊上每個人都相信，我們辦得到。」Peavy說。這位資深投手被敲6支安打，但送出8次三振，把傷害降到最小，拿下先發三連勝。他最近6次先發，拿下5勝1敗、防禦率1.12。

巨人第一局就拿到分數，敲出適時安打的，是「擲」棒好手Hunter Pence。面對響尾蛇先發投手Randall Delgado一記外角大壞球，Pence擲出手中球棒，敲中那一球，形成中間方向滾地安打，打回巨人第一分。

「大家都笑了，」巨人野手Juan Perez說，「這種情形可不常見。」巨人打線在1、3、4局各得一分，第6局再靠綿密攻勢，打下大局。

相較巨人的高效率，響尾蛇打線得點圈9支1，錯過不少得分機會。響尾蛇唯一的一分，是六局上Mark Trumbo的適時二壘打，接下來就沒能再威脅巨人隊。

響尾蛇先發投手Delgado投4局被敲7安、失3分，收下今年第4敗。

巨人最近10戰拿7勝，戰績81勝65敗，接下來要跟道奇進行割喉三連戰。響尾蛇吞下6連敗，戰績59勝87敗，國聯西區第四，落後領先者道奇隊24場。
