29日阪神虎與讀賣巨人之戰，阪神韓籍終結者吳昇桓日職初登板，投1局無失分，最快球速153公里，關門成功，阪神以5比3獲勝，吳昇桓也收下日職生涯首次救援成功。

8局結束，雙方以3比3平手。9局上，滿壘情況下，西岡剛、高梅茲(Mauro Gómez)連續敲安，阪神攻下2分。

9局下吳昇桓登板，先讓首名打者阿部慎之助擊成飛球出局，接著羅培茲(José López)擊出安打，吳昇桓再讓矢野謙次以滾地球出局，橋本到以飛球出局，救援成功。吳昇桓投1局無失分，用32球，被敲1安，最快球速153公里，賽後阪神監督和田豊稱讚他非常可靠。

這場比賽，巨人全場敲出16支安打，比阪神還多4支，終場仍落敗。阪神先發投手梅森爵(RandyMessenger)投6局失2分，被擊出11支安打，6次三振；巨人先發投手杉內俊哉投4局失2分，被擊出6支安打，4次三振，2次保送，兩人都無關勝敗。
