棒球能否重返2020年東京奧運，日本民眾抱持高度期待，讀賣新聞民調中高達68%民眾希望國球復活；日本前首相、東京奧運籌委會主席森喜朗表示，日本、南韓球迷都有強烈意願，希望棒、壘球能回奧運。

森喜朗今年77歲，曾在2000到01年擔任日本首相，上個月接任東京奧運籌委會主席；他昨天在索契冬運記者會指出，日本人對棒球很狂熱，2020年奧運是否有機會復活，國際奧會（IOC）目前正在熱烈討論中，而新任IOC主席巴哈的態度相當關鍵。
