中華隊總教練呂明賜親自餵球。

【賴德剛╱中國天津報導】張進德以剛滿20歲之齡扛下本屆中華隊第4棒，但中華隊史上最年輕的第4棒是誰？1997年台北亞錦賽時，陳金鋒以19歲又6個月成為國內最年輕的國家隊第4棒打者，而本屆中華隊總教練呂明賜，則是在1984年荷蘭哈連盃以19歲又9個月居次。
呂總回憶，當年自己剛從華興中學畢業，所以只能以中華二隊的身分打哈連盃，而一隊則是參加洛杉磯奧運，不過畢竟也是生涯第1次以成棒隊身分入選，所以很難忘。
但若回憶印象最深的一次，呂總表示是1986年荷蘭世界盃，因那時自己就是打第1隊，且對韓國之戰7局下，自己打了1支2分全壘打，但三壘審卻堅持自己喊了暫停，所以全壘打不算，結果中華隊延長賽第12局以0:1輸球，大會還因此頒了「Bad Luck」獎盃給自己，呂總笑說：「我什麼獎都拿過，連這獎盃我看也是空前絕後吧。」
