藍鳥投手Dustin McGowan從2008年之後就未嘗過勝利滋味，期間還動了2次肩膀手術，今天(12日)他先發6.1局無失分，最終球隊以2比0完封金鶯，McGowan獲得6年來的第1場勝投。

McGowan於2000年選秀會被藍鳥挑中，至今都沒有離開這個體系，2005-08年之間在大聯盟拿下20勝，但此後陷入長期的勝投乾旱期，還在2008年、2010年動了2次肩膀手術。

本季第1次先發，McGowan面對洋基只投2.2局失4分。今天他成功壓制金鶯攻勢，6.1局被敲5支安打沒有掉分，其中在5局下滿壘危機全身而退最為關鍵，最終McGowan如願拿下久違的勝投。

「這是感性的夜晚。」對於McGowan的勝投總教練John Gibbons說，「McGowan走了很長的路，他也用表現回應。這不只是對他個人，對所有認識McGowan的人都會覺得收到回饋。」

McGowan本人則談到，「經過前1次糟糕的先發，還可以再有機會登板，我知道我必須走出陰影，並且有強力的表現。今天我感覺到更放鬆，也能更專注在投球上。」

McGowan退場之後，Brett Cecil中繼1.2局無失分，守護神Sergio Santos把關第9局，這2人也都是這場紀念性勝投的幕後推手。

金鶯先發投手Chris Tillman投8局失2分表現不差，但隊友沒有給予支援吞下敗投。本場賽後藍鳥6勝5敗升上美聯東區第2，金鶯4勝6敗敬陪末座。
